Ellerslie residents call for motorway noise barriers

Ellerslie Residents Association (ERA) secretary Bryce Bartley is calling for immediate action to reduce the impact of traffic noise from State Highway 1 (SH1) and invites Transport Minister to experience the problem for himself.

Chairperson’s report for 2016 AGM

Chairmans Report for AGM
Unitary Plan
This is now live from last Friday. The ERA has participated in the process for the last 4 years. Our wins in this are
1. The area between Main Highway and the Motorway ie Findlay & Hewson Sts changed from MIXED to SINGLE DWELLINGS which is important to preserve the character of Ellerslie.
2. The eastern side of Cawley St from light industrial to MIXED, this will allow the change to TERRACED HOUSE/APARTMENTS to happen.
Parking Plan
We submitted a proposed plan for the streets outside of the Business District area in April. Orakei Local Board has supported our proposal. Auckland Transport is still considering the proposal !!!!.
Motorway Sound Barriers
We are working to achieve the erection of sound barriers on the Ellerslie side of the motorway. See letter from the Minister of Transport 11/8/16. We have met with Rob Hannaby NZTA Manager Highway Environments.More to be discussed this evening on this matter.   Continue reading “Chairperson’s report for 2016 AGM”
